French Mercier 10 Speed - Original 1970-73

ONE OF A KIND

This Mercier Model 300, 10 speed road bike is new old stock in very good condition; it's been stored well. It's a time warp bike, not rebuilt, not restored. It does have road experience. There's no dry rot on the original tires nor cable housings. Large Mercier logo and winning rider decals are in incredible condition. Foil headbadge is intact. Overall paint in is very good condition save some scrapes. Details include pinstriping in the colors of the 5 olympic rings wherever blue paint meets chrome (chainstays, seatstays, front fork). The molded vinyl saddle is Italian and it's unknown as to whether this was original equipment.

Olympic team bike for France, perhaps? Tour de France? Prototype? We're still searching; as yet we've been unable to find a solid answer. We've not found another Mercier with these decals - nor a person who knows about them. The Mercier company that built it is no longer in business, and the name was sold. While very nice to ride, this is truly a collectible... it's extremely rare... and draws a lot of attention. Similar models have sold in recent months for $1G and higher. This one is here on consignment at The DBC Garage for $500. Please note that we cannot accept returns on consignment pieces.
